bi'bakwerk works with innovative site specific education concepts, which aim at an equal participation and the exchange of ideas, knowledge and creativity. Our workshops are cross-generational and focus on issues arising from the immediate neighborhood.
In a holiday workshop in cooperation with Trickmisch children can invent and animate stories by processing their own experiences and fantasies. In the end of the workshop, the finished films are publically displayed onto a projection screen in the bi’bak shop window.
Das Mobile Sprachlabor is always on the move in Berlin with Trickmisch. With animation stands, film-editing stations, a mini recording studio and a case full of cut-out figures, the mobile language lab has been animating and cutting together with students from a range of refugee backgrounds since 2014. The children and adolescents develop stories, drawing a range of ages into a fascinating and rich visual world with their imaginative animations. Through this work Trickmisch wants to make learning German an active, fun and self-asserting process. In the regular classes the focus is placed on imagining and formulating stories, whereby the development of visual worlds, the intense concentration of the animation process and the sense of achievement of creating one’s own completed film is seen as important experiences.
Over 50 animations have been made this way. On the Trickmisch Website one can look at, listen to and read the picture stories invented by the students.
