Series of workshops researching the moving image / children's film program
Migration, global social contexts, and cultural history can be worked out through films or artistic work in workshops. Watching films together, undertaking practical research with moving images or processing one's own stories through film is a collective experience and experience that can create a sense of community. Against this background, the series of workshops playfully uses film techniques to convey, develop and process socio-political issues.
The program will include children's cinema events on the history of migration as an open offer to children and their parents, as well as various workshops for children and adults to research moving images and interventions in the public space.

Pinhole Camera Workshop

Anima-Doc Workshop is a 4 days workshop which focuses on how documentary and animation can be used and mixed creatively in film-making. Tutors Tomáš Doruška and A. Nazli Kaya from FAMU (Film and TV School of Academy of Performing Arts in Prague) will share their practice of stop motion and paper cut-out animation techniques in a hands-on way. Participants are encouraged to come with ideas that are based on social justice, and/or political, ecological, and environmental themes. Together we will discuss the ideas for the shorts and will choose the best 3 to be realized.

Akile Nazli Kaya is an animator, Filmmaker, and designer. Her work has been featured in a number of international festivals, including the Annecy IFF and IDFA. Together with her partner Tomáš Doruška, they have organized multiple workshops on classical animation and its uses in documentary filmmaking.
Tomáš Doruška is an editor, producer and mentor. He directed his debut 35mm movie Radhošť. He has also worked as a co-author on Ebb&Tide (2010) and Enclosure (2011), as well as an editor on How Big Is the Galaxy? (2018), which premiered at IDFA. Tomáš teaches at various film academies including FAMU Prague.
Analogue film cameras, projectors and moving images
Since 2010, the workshop series "The Tiger Comes..." has been dealing with notions of stereotypes, stigmatisation, and exclusion of supposed "others". In the same way, our film education projects focus on working with analogue film technology and exploring moving images. In this workshop, we will experiment with "antique" cinematographic equipment, optical lenses, analogue film strips, and various 16mm projectors. By doing this, we will also reflect on topics related to the migration society. On several weekends , we will go on a research trip together with mediators and film technicians in order to generate new knowledge and critically question our mediation concepts.

Kinomuseum Berlin e.V. presents rarities on cinema and media technology and the history of Berlin's film theaters. In the Alexa center at Alexanderplatz, photos from film theaters, film reel originals, projectors, cinema advertisements, and display materials are exhibited. Film classics are explained in a remembered "premiere atmosphere" with 9,16, 35, and 70mm projectors with a three-story platter reel. A hands-on cinema experience for young and old!

More than ever before, our world is defined by mobility. But who is allowed to travel and who is not is unequally regulated - by visas, passports, entry regulations and much more. Furthermore, completely different rules apply to goods moving in global trade networks. For this Trickmisch workshop we invite children and parents to spend a Saturday afternoon describing different forms of being on the move and to illustrate these via short, animated films on a light table. Two sources of inspiration will help you find word material for your animated films: snake poems á la Meret Oppenheim and absurd word combinations like the surrealists. These texts will then be brought to life as animated film stories.
Since 2014, Trickmisch has been working with refugee students from welcome classes to cut and animate all kinds of stories using trick tables, film editing stations, a mini recording studio, and a suitcase full of silhouette figures.

Malve Lippmann studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart and at the Institute for Art in Context (UdK) in Berlin. As a freelance stage designer and artist, she has been internationally responsible for the design of numerous performances, opera- and theatre productions. Since 2010, Malve Lippmann has been working as a curator and cultural manager, leading artistic workshops and seminars and is active in various cultural- and community projects. She is co-founder and artistic director of bi'bak and SİNEMA TRANSTOPIA.
