STUDENTS MAKE ANIMATED FILMS
Followed by a talk with Julia Kapelle
The Berlin team from "Trickmisch - das mobile Sprachlabor" made a digital stopover in Malaysia and organized a film competition. In this student project, students from 12 Malaysian secondary schools created their own cartoons by creating their own silhouettes and articulated figures, animating them using the stop-trick technique and then setting their texts to music themselves.
The project drew on old Malaysian traditions in form and content: on the one hand, the students illustrated and told the content of old Malaysian fairy tales. On the other hand, the form of the silhouettes is closely related to the old Malaysian narrative form - the shadow theater wayang kulit.
We are pleased that the project is our guest with a presentation.
