AN INTERACTIVE NEIGHBOURHOOD GAME FOR SOLDINER KIEZ

Workshop Leaders Karsten Michael Drohsel

SOLDINO

With the help of different games, game developers explore and experience the public space and the pluricultural traces in the neighborhood in a variety of ways: they learn stories and tell us something about themselves. The narratives create a diverse variety of meeting places which help the inhabitants of Kiez to get to know one another. Through the stories, the play Soldino – A Play for Soldiner Kiez was developed, in which different people, places and stories were brought together.

A project by bi’bak in cooperation with Sankt Urban Berlin, the Fanmilienzentrum in der Nachbarschaftsetage Osloer Strasse and the Weddinger Partnerschaft Demokratie in der Mitte. Illustration: Franziska Schaum.

The neighbourhood game took place within the framework of the International Weeks against Racism, since to connect oneself to neighbours is to dismantle prejudices.

Commissioned by the QM Soldiner Strasse, funded by the Federal Republic of Germany as part of the Zukunftsinitiative Stadtteil, programme Soziale Stadt.

Karsten Michael Drohsel works as a project developer in the field of knowledge management. He is the founding president of the Mobile University and operates Sankt Urban Berlin, an office for urban research, experimental space practices and urban education as well as the Impulsbüro Berlin.
