İŞ-PORTA

bi’bak invites the two artist collectives Sankt Urban Berlin and Uygar Demoğlu / Çağın Kaya, to present their works in the frame of the project İŞ-PORTA. Within the project the selected artists from Turkey and Germany developed two site-specific works, which function as vending carts in the neighbourhood and allow interactions within the local community.

Sankt Urban Berlin (Karsten Michael Drohsel, Melanie Krebs, Sebastian Strombach) have developed ARBEITS-Pazar – a mobile employment agency for refugees and the local craftsmen in Soldiner Kiez (Berlin). The Turkish artists Uygar Demoğlu and Çağın Kaya traveled through the streets of Sinop (Turkey) with a video vehicle, reflecting issues of the harbour city. Both works are presented by the artists at bi'bak in Berlin and also in Sinop within the scope of the 6th Sinopale – International Sinop Biennale in July 2016.

İŞ-PORTA is a participatory project developed by Sinop Sustainable Development Association and bi’bak and is supported by TANDEM Cultural Managers Exchange Turkey-EU.

TANDEM – Cultural Managers Exchange Turkey – EU is an initiative of the European Cultural Foundation (Amsterdam), MitOst (Berlin), Anadolu Kültür (Istanbul), supported by Stiftung Mercator (Essen).

Çağın Kaya studied at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University and works as a graphic designer.

Uygar Demoğlu aims to re-fictionalize reality with a subjective point of view by taking the world we live in as the center of the dialectic. He uses video as well as photography and installation. His works have been shown at various national and international festivals and exibitions. He lives in Istanbul.
