bi'bak invites Aisha Franz to present her latest comic book Shit is Real in a live comic reading.
In Shit is Real, Aisha Franz outlines a vision of the future, ironically reflecting on today's zeitgeist through food hysteria and absurdities such as cat food dispensers. The story tells of Selma, who apart from her freshly broken relationship suffers from many other problems. Completely overwhelmed by societal expectations, Selma seeks her own way through a highly consumption- and performance-oriented environment and escapes into bizarre fantasy worlds. In a depressive fish she finds her soulmate.
Aisha Franz was born 1984 in Fürth. During her childhood she moved a few times with her parents, who are from Columbia and Chile and ended up in Kassel, where she studied Visual Communication at the local university of arts. Nowadays her daily life takes place in Berlin. Here she is working as an illustrator and author of comic books. Aisha's comics are mostly published by Reprodukt, a publishing house that is based in Berlin.
