bi’bakstube is an intercultural and inter-culinary dinner that took place between 2015 and 2017. The chefs at these events were refugees from our surrounding neighborhood. bi'bakstube dinners offered their visitors to take a seat at a long table, enjoy a good meal and get to know each other.
At the monthly events the chefs Fatao Yaya, Abo Malik, Mazhar Iqbal and Asibi Wartenberg (among others) were cooking specialities from the Syrian, Ghanaian, Pakistani, Touareg and Punjabi cuisine.
Starting from October 2016 an artistic intervention by Trickmisch bei Tisch (Julia Kapelle & Tamim Sibai) took place at bi’bakstube. The mobile language laboratory collects transnational language images and proverbs which are illustrated and can be processed into small animations.
bi’bakstube was awarded both the Demokratiepreis Respekt gewinnt by Berliner Ratschlag für Demokratie and the Quartiermeisterpreis.
bi’bakstube has been funded by Stiftung DKLB, Berliner Projektfonds Kulturelle Bildung Bezirk Mitte Berlin, AKTION MENSCH, Aktionsfonds by Quartiersmanagements Soldiner Straße and Quartiermeister.

The Tiger has worked with a group of children with and without refugee background in Berlin. They visited various gardens and garden projects with their self-made sketchbook in their pockets. Back in the project space bi’bak, the children created a Veggie Memory Game, which now can be used as a language-learning tool. At the newly opened garden area behind bi’bak, the group designed their own garden and planted some vegetables and flowers.
The workshop “Der Tiger kommt in den Garten” is funded by Berliner Projektfonds Kulturelle Bildung. Harvestsoup/ bi’bakstube #19 is funded by Stiftung DKLB.
